Microsoft released .net framework 4.0  last year. so the new certifications. This article explain the the details of 4.0 framework certifications;
Microsoft's every certification is divided in two section MCTS and MCPD. MCTS are individuals exams. you can appear of it whatever you interest. EG. Web or windows, WCFs, or Data Access. is all on you.But when we talk about MCPD which is (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer) require MCTS exams and one another exam for MCPD.
Following are exams available in Microsoft .net Framework 4.


MCTS ( Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist)


1) Certification: MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Windows Applications
    Exam 70-511: TS: Windows Applications Development with Microsoft .NET Framework 4

2) Certification: MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Web Applications

    Exam 70-515: TS: Web Applications Development with Microsoft .NET Framework 4

3) Certification: MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Service Communication Applications

    Exam 70-513: TS: Windows Communication Foundation Development with  
    Microsoft .NET Framework 4

4) Certification: MCTS: .NET Framework 4, Data Access

     Exam 70-516: TS: Accessing Data with Microsoft .NET Framework 4

5) Certification: MCTS: Silverlight 4, Development

     Exam 70-506: TS: Silverlight 4, Development

MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer)


MCPD: Windows Developer:
Prerequisite: 1, 3, 4 from above MCTS section
Exam 70-518: PRO: Designing and Developing Windows Applications Using Microsoft .NET Framework 4


MCPD: Web Developer 
Prerequisite: 2,3,4 from above MCTS section
Exam 70-519: PRO: Designing and Developing Web Applications Using Microsoft .NET Framework 4


MCPD: Windows Azure Developer (Very new in .net framework 4.0, as cloud computing is getting acceleration worldwide)
Prerequisite: 3,4 from above MCTS section
Exam 70-583: PRO: Designing and Developing Windows Azure Applications


Note from Microsft (Candidates who earn the MCPD: Windows Azure Developer certification will be required to show continuing ability to perform in this technology area by completing a recertification exam every two years)


Example: You want to go for WCF certification, you can appear for Exam:70-516.


if want to expertise Microsoft Silverlight , Go for 70-506,


if you want MCPD web, you need to go through four exams, Three prerequisite 70-515, 70-516, 70-506 and then 70-518

.net certification for Freshers and College-Passouts

I often get a lots of comments about .net certification for fresh college pass-outs/ Freshers. Some Freshers gets placement but remaining wanted to do some additional study certification so have edge for job.
                                                But as per Microsoft you need to have at least 2 years of industry experience to do the certification which actually do not verified by Prometric Center in India, but when Microsoft says 2 years of experience it means exams require some practical industry hands-on.

1)  If you have good knowledge of .net at fresher level means you have done very good training at college level and executed some projects then, you can give a try,

2) But if you want to sit for exam just on basis of certification dumps, please do not go for it. Get some experience on it, because interviewer will know that you are not genuine & you will face rejection another set back for you that despite of certification you are unable to crack any interview.

Summary is give it try after getting some industry experience.

Dot net certification Books, Dump, study Material for 3.5 and 4.0

Books are the best practice material for the preparation for .net certification, currently only 3.5 and 4.0 certification are valid. 2.0 has expired in June-2011,

if you are already 3.5 then you must give upgrade exams. if you are new then choose only 4.0 certification , because 3.5 will expire next year. as new framework is on the way.

.net Framework 3.5 MCTS MCPD certification details(70-502,503,504,505,561,562)

3.5 certification are latest certification of .net technologies. After 2.0 framework microsoft released 3.0 and 3.5. Framework. 3.5 got its own different certification for web,windows and enterprise. Framework also got some separate certification for the new released technologies under 3.5 umbrella(WCF,WWF and WPF)

Pre-Reqisite:

70-536 is common exam for all the following certification. So for any of the following certification you need to clear 70-536 and any of the following exam. Yes 70-536 is same as of 2.0 certification. so if you already have any MCTS 2.0 you only need to give one exam for a particular 3.5 certification.

you need to clear 70-536 once.

Passing Marks
Microsoft has not clearly mentioned the passing marks and out of marks.
But you need to score 80% to clear the exams.
Experience tell that MCTS(both) and MCPD are out of 1000 marks. you need minimum 800 to clear the exam.

Minimum 40 (most of the cases)
Maximum 50

Duration
2.30 - 3 hours according to questions.

these are the no's according to the my experience at time of giving the exams. It could change later by Microsoft.

How to study/Clear/Pass the MCTS MCPD MCITP

I got alot of queries in various mails and comments so i decided to write this article.
To clear the examination you don't have to go to any center. Just purchase microsoft self paced kit for the

various exams(70-528,536,547,548,431,441)as mentioned in my
previous article

Even you can download a pdf from the internet. Try the questions at end of each chapter, also do the

practice question. Cd come in pack if you purchase hard copy there are a lot of examples and practicle

question.

Second Way is read dump but that is not recommended approach , you will learn nothing and that will be

only a tag, that will not work if your are going for interview coz you will be caught easily.

Microsoft exams are less costly then any other exams in industry. eg. Java or Oracle.

Starting with the MCTS which consist of two exams 528 and 536 same for windows and distributed MCTS.

Each exam paper costs Rs. 2250 - 3000

Same is for any other Microsoft exam.

You can go to any prometric center in your city.
NIIT,Aptech are some of the name those have prometric center for the exams.
you have to go there , Pay and sit for the exam.
